Bitvain: Bitcoin Vanity Address Generator for Windows

Bitvain lets you create personalized Bitcoin addresses by choosing specific characters to appear within the address, giving it a unique, personal touch.

How It Works

A vanity Bitcoin address allows you to include a customized sequence of characters. However, this feature isn’t natively supported by the Bitcoin protocol, so generating a custom address requires a brute-force method. The program will generate addresses repeatedly until one matches your specified pattern.

The time it takes to generate a vanity address depends on how complex your chosen pattern is. For example, a difficulty value of 1,073,741,824 means it will take, on average, that many attempts to find a match. This is a matter of probability, so the process could be faster or slower than expected.

How to Use Bitvain

1. Select Characters: Choose the specific characters you want to include in your Bitcoin address.
2. Set Position: Decide where in the address the characters should appear.
3. Pick Address Type: Select the Bitcoin address type you want to generate.
4. Generate: Hit the generate button and let Bitvain create your custom vanity address!

Is It Safe? (Important)

Vanity address generation comes with inherent risks, so DO NOT use vanity addresses for storing significant amounts of bitcoin. Some of these risks can be mitigated, but it’s important to be cautious.

  • Offline Use: Bitvain does not need internet access. All address generation happens locally on your machine. For added security, you can use Bitvain in a completely offline environment.
  • Open Source: Bitvain is open-source software. You can review the code or even build it yourself to ensure its integrity, instead of relying on the provided installer.
  • Private Key Security:
    • Never store your private key on a computer or cloud service. If you must store it electronically (though this isn’t recommended), use the copy button next to the private key to avoid keyloggers and prevent transcription errors.
    • The safest method is to store your private key in a physical, offline form.
  • Address Reuse: For better privacy, avoid reusing addresses. With a vanity address, this can be difficult, unless you generate a new one for every transaction!
